I started playing tennis at the age of 10 while I was on a family vacation in the Bahamas. I had never played before when a Tennis Pro gave me a free lesson and I was hooked ever since. I trained with a Private Coach named Dave Okun who formed me in to the player/coach I am today. I played USTA tournaments as a junior player, my first singles tournament I won as a teenager was the Dupont Open. I played two year’s varsity tennis for Haddonfield Memorial High School, NJ where our team won two consecutive Group I State Championships. My senior year my partner and I were ranked the #1 doubles team Group 1 in the state. After high school I trained at the world renown Harry Hopman’s International Tennis Academy located in Saddlebrooke, Fla. I later went on to play division I tennis at Loyola University of Maryland.
After College I took a few years off from the sport to come back later obtaining my PTR Professional Teaching Certificate and becoming a Teaching Pro for the Cape May Tennis Club located in Cape May, NJ. Here is where I’ve established a large client base for private lessons and a very successful One Love kid’s summer program. I’ve also taken on the responsibility as Middle Township Boys Tennis Team’s Head Coach. I’ve been Head Coach for the past 14 seasons and we have made the State tournament every year since I’ve taken over the program. We have consistently won the Cape May Boy’s Tournament and have been crowned Cape Atlantic League National Conference Champs for the past 10 years. The MTHS Boys Program has also been South Jersey Group 1 Champions 3 times in the past 4 seasons. These titles are the only 10 in school history.
Over the past 14 years as head coach I’ve been named 2008 Courier Post “Coach of the Year” and 2010 AC Press “Coach of the Year” with a career record of 240-46. In 2014 the program was awarded “Team of the Year” by the AC Press. Now our program is ranked in the Top 10 in South Jersey and in the State, we are considered a Group 1 perennial powerhouse. None of these awards and accomplishments could not have been achieved if it wasn’t from the hard work and dedication from my players. I’ll be playing this game for the rest of my life. When it comes to sports and hobbies, it’s my One Love!!!!
